Terms of Service.

The ground rules.

Welcome to Veri ("Veri," "we," "us," or "our"), a non-custodial, zero-knowledge identity platform built on the Algorand blockchain. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Veri website, browser extension, smart contracts, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of the Service

Veri provides a non-custodial identity vault that allows users to generate and present zero-knowledge proofs of identity credentials, such as email ownership, token holdership, or other supported credentials, without revealing the underlying private data. Veri does not custody your private keys, wallet, or identity documents. All cryptographic material remains under your control at all times.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use the Service. By using Veri, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and that your use of the Service complies with all laws applicable to you.

3. Non-Custodial Nature of the Service

3.1. Veri is non-custodial. We do not hold, store, or have access to your private keys, wallet seed phrases, or the underlying data used to generate your credentials.

3.2. You are solely responsible for safeguarding your private keys, wallet, and any recovery material. Loss of your private keys may result in permanent and irreversible loss of access to your identity vault and credentials. Veri has no ability to recover lost keys or reverse blockchain transactions on your behalf.

3.3. You acknowledge that blockchain transactions, including those on Algorand, are generally irreversible.

4. Zero-Knowledge Credentials

4.1. Veri's proofs are designed so that you can demonstrate a fact about yourself, such as ownership of an email address or membership token, to a relying party without disclosing the underlying data itself.

4.2. While Veri uses industry cryptographic practices, including DKIM/RSA-based verification, commitment schemes, and zero-knowledge proof systems, to protect your data, no system is guaranteed to be perfectly secure. You acknowledge the inherent risks of cryptographic and blockchain-based systems, including undiscovered vulnerabilities.

4.3. Relying parties, meaning third-party services that accept Veri proofs, for example via the OIDC bridge or "Sign in with Veri," are independent of Veri. We are not responsible for how relying parties use, store, or act upon information you choose to share with them.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including fraud or identity misrepresentation;
  • Attempt to forge, spoof, or falsify credentials or proofs;
  • Interfere with, reverse-engineer, or attempt to compromise the integrity of Veri's smart contracts or infrastructure;
  • Use the Service to violate the rights of any third party.

6. Fees

Certain actions on the Service, such as credential issuance or verification, may incur a fee ("micro-fee"), which will be disclosed at the time of the transaction. Blockchain network fees, such as Algorand transaction fees, are separate from Veri's fees and are outside our control.

7. Intellectual Property

The Veri name, logo, brand assets, and website content are the property of Veri and its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Veri's trademarks or branding without prior written consent.

8. No Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Veri and its founders, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of funds, data, or digital assets, arising from your use of the Service — including losses resulting from lost private keys, smart contract vulnerabilities, or third-party relying party conduct.

10. Beta Services

Portions of the Service, including features accessed via veribeta.io, may be offered as beta or experimental features. Beta features are provided for testing purposes and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice.

11. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms. Because Veri is non-custodial, termination of your access to our front-end services does not affect your ability to independently interact with your own wallet or the underlying blockchain.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
